Thomas Slaughter will read from his new book, The Beautiful Soul of John Woolman, Apostle of Abolition. This book is a biography of the extraordinary 18th-century Quaker whose abolitionist fervor and spiritual practice made him a model for generations of Americans. Dr. Slaughter is Professor of History at the University of Rochester.
